Agrupamento de Escolas Professor Paula Nogueira

Our school cluster is integrated in a priority educational territory, due to the low socioeconomic background of most of its students (around 50%), their school results and early school leaving. The school cluster has students ranging from 3-15 , and there are classes of PCA (Alternative Curriculum), PIEF (Integrated Program for Education and Training) and Vocational courses for those students who are at risk of leaving without completing their basic education.  We are a reference school cluster for students with multiple disabilities (around 140 pupils). In addition we have a large number of Romani pupils and pupils from different nationalities. There are students from countries as diverse as Brazil, India, Ukrain or Angola, among others. The external evaluation team identified the participation in national and international projects as one of the strengths of our school cluster, with positive results in terms of interaction with the community.  It is our belief that by having the possibility to work with students from different origins and countries towards a common goal, it will not only increase the students' motivation and self-esteem but also give them a better understanding of the opportunities EU provides for qualified workers, in the hope they’ll realise school education/vocational training is always the best choice.

Denmark
Aalborg Kommune

Gug skole is located 5-6 km south-east from the centre of Aalborg. The school is placed in a socially well-off environment with a relatively homegeneous group of pupils.

The parents cooperate actively with the school and are very interested in development and progress.

Gug skole serves around 800 pupils from the age of 6 to 16 years of age. There are 70 teachers at the school.

Gug Skole has worked on international projects for many years. This is important for us because we do not have many foreigners at the school. So we do not reflect on normal society. It is important to teach our students about foreign cultures so that they understand and accept. We have a curriculum for the international work and an international committee. We are very interested in new ways of teaching. Especially with ICT because our council gives our students a device frem the 4th to the 6th grade. Our 3rd grade also get a device and our older students bring computers from home.

Cirkevna spojena skola

Our school, Cirkevná spojená škola, is a group of schools including nursery, primary school and two types of secondary school: eight year form - starting at the age of 11 and four year form starting at the age of 15.

The pupils can take part in after school clubs such as sports, drama, science, biology, tourism, music (school band) and many others, where they can relax and develop their talents. Sports clubs are the most popular, since our school has a big gym. It is also possible to use a football stadium just opposite school. The school organizes  swimming, ice-skating and skiing courses available  to all pupils. English and German are taught as foreign languages.

The school is placed in three buildings. Nursery and Lower Primary School are situated in two separate buildings in the centre of Vranov nad Topľou, whereas the Higher Primary School and Secondary Schools are placed in one large building on the outskirts of the town.

Pupils in Cirkevná spojená škola come from different social backgrounds. However, Catholic faith and teaching brings them together and helps them to tolerate and accept one another.

Our school is located in the eastern part of the country, in a small district town with about 78 000 inhabitants. The Vranov district is mainly an industrial area with relatively high unemployment rates.

Publiczne Gimnazjum nr 11 im. Bolesława Prusa

Public Junior High School number 11 in Radom deals with students aged 13-16. As far as socioeconomic aspects are concerned the school is situated in a very disadvantageous area. The problem of emigration has also been observed for a few years. Parents have been travelling abroad to search for a job and this way they make their children be brought up by grandparents or other relatives. That often results in the problem of early school leaving we as teachers need to deal with.

Despite those problems our students achieve a lot of significant sports, artistic and scientific success, both  in the city and the country. They are very eager to take part in national and local educational projects.

Our top priority is to let our students make progress in the fields they are good at. Taking part in European partnership of the schools lets us exchange opinions and take other schools` advice.

Such cooperation lets us improve educational activities at our school community and involves parents in it. Furthermore, thanks to it, students, teachers and parents will be able to get to know people from other European countries. It will also have a positive aspect of motivating students to learn foreign languages and assume a friendly attitude towards other countries and integration.
